Conflict Resolution Workshop
Edward Deming, the father of quality management, has said that people can face almost any problem except the problem of people. They can work long hours, face declining business, even the loss of a job, but they can’t deal with the difficult people in their lives. When individuals work together closely on difficult projects or to meet tight deadlines, it is only natural for conflict to develop. However, managing conflict appropriately can be the difference between a simple “bump in the road” or lost productivity and long-term animosity.
From conflict to connectedness, The Thomas Kilmann Inventory conflict resolution workshops assess styles of conflict in the workplace. Using the results of this inventory, the facilitator will show how natural conflict-handling styles can be refined. Conflict resolution strategies are introduced and honed to engender a workplace culture equipped to handle conflict.
The Conflict Resolution Workshop WILL:
- Initiate dialogue to prevent conflicts from peaking
- Encourage individuals to address rather than avoid conflict
- Show the progressive steps that most conflicts follow and demonstrate how individuals can identify these steps
- Provide detailed information about when a natural conflict-handling style is beneficial or inappropriate
- Identify proven conflict resolution strategies and methods
- Alleviate the fear, anger, and frustration associated with conflict
- Illustrate how to manage differences quickly and effectively
Outcomes
- Prevented loss of productivity
- Decreased “blow out” level conflicts
- An informed group that can identify and therefore negative aspects of conflict
- A higher functioning group
- Increased communication
- Diminishment of stress often caused by relationship friction
- Recognition that conflict is unavoidable and a healthy natural function of any intact team
- A cooperative atmosphere
