Afterward, everyone settles in to the construction of beehive frames. These are donated to an enterprising women’s cooperative in Mexicali, Mexico that has embraced beekeeping as a way to generate family income. Your participation makes it possible for these women to produce and sell beeswax candles, honey-flavored baked goods, healing salves, bee pollen, hand and facial creams and more.

At the end of the day, you succeed in raising morale, stimulating cooperation and boosting motivation, all while making a meaningful contribution to a community in need. This really is one event where everybody wins.

“I learned that one must never underestimate the act of giving, no matter how small and insignificant it may seem. Building 30 beehives seemed like such a minor contribution. However, my husband and I later met a local Jamaican who provided a guided tour of the island. We saw firsthand the poverty and how so many live. We shared our Citigroup’s beehive-building activity. Our guide was so touched by our generosity and idea of Citi’s activity while we were traveling and he hoped we understood the impact and kindness of our contribution. However little it may have seemed to us, it was an appreciated gift. We wished we could have had the materials to build 100 hives!”
